Dry Needling
What is Dry Needling?
Dry Needling is the insertion of fine acupuncture-type needles into tight muscles or trigger points, which seeks to relieve muscle pain by causing a ‘twitch response’ of the muscle tissue, resulting in relaxation and subsequent release of the taut/contracted muscle area. This then enables the muscle’s normal functions to be restored.
Is it safe to have Dry Needling?
Dry needling is a very safe process. In some cases, a needle being inserted into a trigger point muscle may create slight discomfort. But, there is no sharp or excessive pain and many patients do not feel the needles being inserted at all.
